Green Lifestyle

Recently I was given a subscription to the Green Lifestyle magazine.  I would recommend it to everyone as it has great information and lots of practical things to do.

A great resource.

I would particularly recommend the latest edition as it contains a three page gem of an interview with David Suzuki.

The magazine also has a very useful online site.

AAEE Queensland - SE Qld Meeting Saturday 24th August

After a bit of a hiatus following the very successful Webinar earlier in the year (getting the work/family/voluntary balance back in line) our Qld Chapter - SE Qld group met today to discuss our strategic plan, communications plan including use of social media, and delivery of services to members.

In summary we:

  • considered the national AAEE executive's strategic plan and considered what we could accomplish as a chapter
  • considered our communications plan, agreeing we should place emphasis on the stories our membership could share given their wealth of experience in the field of environmental education; and we noted the role of social media in sharing stories (Facebook, linked in, twitter in particular)
  • we discussed the financial resources of the chapter, recognising the contribution of the National Treasurer in the management of our funds and agreed to join the Joint Council of Queensland Teachers Association (JCQTA) www.jcqta.qld.edu.au - something we have been meaning to do for some time
  • agreed to the re-designation of our roles to AAEE Queensland Chapter Support; reflecting the multi-skilling across our roles and the opportunistic nature of our voluntary efforts.
We recognise the contribution of Hilary Macleod to our planning session today.  Hilary, a long standing member of AAEE and past national secretary kindly shared her experience in using social media and knowledge of communication planning around environmental issues.  Thanks for your generosity Hilary!

We look forward to continue to serve our membership, advocate for environmental education for sustainability and support AAEE Queensland.
All our best,
Jo Kelly, Nichole Stephenson, (Hilary Macleod - advisor on social media) and Ron Holmes
