Third Sectors' Complete Guide to the ACNC

There's all sorts of changes happening for the NFP sector and charities at the moment with the development of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

A new free resource, The Complete Guide to the ACNC, from the Third Sector enables you to be aware of key implications of the ACNC, important dates and how regulatory changes will affect your not-for-profit organisation.

Please note that the interesting and practical bits are quite a few pages in, but there is some good background information for those who haven't been keeping up to date with changes and implications.

Action to protect the Reef from climate change

The Great Barrier Reef Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan 2012–2017 sets targets to improve the Reef’s health with a strong focus on helping industries and communities use the Reef wisely and encouraging them to take action to reduce the rate and extent of climate change.

Soils are back on the radar...

From the Landcare Bulletin: Landcare link

Soils are currently being discussed at a national level and the Prime Minister has appointed former Governor General, Michael Jeffrey as our national Soils Ambassador. Under the new policy, farmers may become eligible for government payments if they act to improve and protect their productive soils, prevent erosion, salinity and the loss of valuable topsoil, as now occurs in Europe.
Since retiring as governor-general four years ago, General Jeffery has established a new not-for-profit organisation Soils for Life aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt a holistic, chemical-free approach to managing their precious soils, water and native vegetation for both their own financial benefit and the environment.
