SEQ catchments arranging ACDC training at a great price....

Hi all,

See below for a great opportunity for members of your group to get heavily subsidised ACDC training.  The majority of the funding is available through Apanie Wood, the Regional Landcare Facilitator for SEQ.  Contact Apanie (details below) if you’re keen and want to get the ball rolling.

SEQ Catchments is looking to gauge interest from community group members in attending chemical accreditation training. Some details of the course are provided below.

If you are interested in a course being held in your region, please let us know.

What and why?
In Queensland, if you intend to use ground equipment to distribute herbicides on land that you or a close relative do not own or occupy, you may need a commercial operator's licence.

Even if you are not intending to use a vehicle to distribute herbicides, it is useful for any person involved in weed management activities to undertake some training in the safe application, use and storage of herbicides.

The nitty gritty

SEQ Catchments is offering community groups with the opportunity to attend subsidised chemical accreditation training required to apply for commercial operator’s licence.

Participants will receive statements of attainment in:
RTC3704A - Prepare and Apply Chemicals
RTC3401A - Control Weeds
RTC 3705A - Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals

Cost
Generally, attendance at this training costs upwards of $300. SEQ Catchments can offer the course to participants for $50 per person. We are looking to partner with other organisations to reduce this cost where possible. Once you have received the statement of attainment you can apply directly to Biosecurity QLD for your licence. Visit the Queensland Government website here for more information.
