Planning for the AESA Qld Meeting 2013:
Graham Tupper ACF on behalf of the Australian Education for Sustainability Alliance (AESA) is managing a DEEWR funded project over the next 18 months to engage with a wide variety of mainstream teachers and educators, as well as with decision makers in government, to recommend ways to:
1. improve the accessibility of high quality classroom ready resources;
2. support the alignment of EfS learning tools and programs with the Australian Curriculum;
3. provide better training and support services for teachers and educators programs to enable efficient delivery of sustainability learning outcomes across the Australian Curriculum.
AAEE Queensland has been asked to help feed into this research project, organising a Queensland meeting.Title: Education for Sustainability and the Australian Curriculum – Queensland. http://www. educationforsustainability. org.au
Type of meeting:
Recognising the importance of including as many participants as possible and minmising our carbon footprint we agreed on holding a Webinar type event across the state, with individuals joining in from their home/work, or choosing to meet at a “hub” (location which enables webinars to be viewed in a group setting such as a school, university, council offices etc Eg: ).
At this early stage we see the meeting being held across a day, with a number of stages throughout the day: First session – engagement online with Graham providing background, and other participants helping to establish the ‘lay of the land’ for efs at this time.
Second Session – breakout sessions where regional hubs discuss efs at their regional level; those joining individually may be invited to peruse online documents, join skype groups, and upload their own ‘report’ around efs.
Third Session – Reporting back; all participants invited back to webinar to here from regional hubs, individual and Graham.
Final Session – Call to action. Advocacy for efs coordination and communication at the state and national levels.
Meeting Date:
Graham Tupper, ACF originally proposed a date in April. Potential dates (TBC): Saturday 20th April, (Queensland prefers an earlier date and is requesting Sat March 16th)
We will keep you posted of information as it comes to light. For ease of communication we urge you to "become a member" of our blog (address below). This is particularly useful to you if you have a smart phone.
